Event: 12th July 2023, Wuhan, China

Farming is one of the key domains whose carbon footprint may be significantly reduced by introducing appropriate measures, a prescient subject which Dr Kass presented to the 9th CCAF – China (International) Commercial Aerospace Forum) in Wuhan, China, at the invitation of the symposium organizers.

Many countries and organizations in the world are now trying to reduce their carbon footprint to mitigate the effects of global climate change and improve public health. All face the challenge of measuring their efforts. This project discusses methods for measuring reduction of greenhouse emissions or increase of carbon sinks in the agricultural domain. The final service proposed is a remote-sensing based system to quantify net carbon emissions/sequestration resulting from land use/management practices. This system can be integrated into various Monitoring Reporting Verification (MRV) platforms or used as a standalone system through a cloud platform, whose system will be used as a mechanism to measure, report and reward Carbon mitigation efforts at the field level.
